On 19th March 2013, a survey was conducted among 15 students of Social Sciences Department. The purpose of the survey was to discover the evolution of dominating reading types of students during the course of their studies. There were 5 similar questions with one choice option regarding the type of reading that students spend most time on at their 1st year of studies through 5th year respectively.

As can be seen from graph 1, reading for specialty overall has always been prevailing and only in the first year of studies students read as much in other specialties as they did in their own. The reading in other specialties has generally declined and by 5th year accounts for roughly 13% of surveyed students, whereas reading for their specialty is actual as dominating for the majority of students. Reading for pleasure has been a major activity only for 1/5th of students. It is important to note that a lasting trend of news reading increase can be observed throughout the study years.
