Introduction. Graph 1 demonstrates the number of Ukrainian students studying in foreign universities according to UNESCO`s educational reports in 2006 and 2010. The horizontal axis stands for the analyzed years, and the vertical axis shows the numbers of students studying in different countries.
Comment. As shown in Graph 1, in 2004 and 2006 the largest number of Ukrainian students studying abroad (almost 7,000 and over 8,000 in accordance) chose German universities, but in 2009 there was noticeable decrease of number of Ukrainian students studying in this country – to almost 6,100. It can be explained by increasing requirements to applicants. The number of Ukrainian students completing their education in Russian universities sharply increased between 2006 and 2009, and for 2009 Russia became the leader of students` choice. What about studying in Poland and USA, for analyzed period numbers of Ukrainian students studying there kept the same dynamic with slight changes. As we can see, the number of Ukrainian students studying abroad increased in the last few years, and this process was caused mostly by large rise of the number of those who want to study in Russia – interest to other countries remained almost the same. These changes can be explained by disappointment in Ukrainian educational system which very often provides students neither with necessary professional knowledge nor with possibilities for self-realization.
