Belopolska writing progress

On 22 March a survey was conducted among  11 students of Master Programs, Faculty of Humanities, in NaUKMA, 9 students were female and 2  were male. The purpose of the survey was to discover the feedback on the writing course.

The survey was conducted by means of a questionnaire given to the students to complete.  There were 5 questions, where two optional questions depended on positive or negative the previous answer.
The first question concerned whether the writing course improved the writing skills in English.  The reason for positive or negative answers should be  explicated.

The second question asked to describe those difficulties that a student still might have in writing. The third question examined whether the book on Academic writing was useful for students.  The fourth question asked what useful points students learned during the Academic writing course, when the fifth one suggested to write some comments.
All eleven students found the course useful.  They admit, that they learned to clearly express their ideas, got to know the Academic style peculiarities, improved their grammar and enriched vocabulary.  Although among weak points that they still have some students list poor vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, and grammar as well as not ideal skills of paraphrasing, making quotations and summarizing.
Six students out of eleven find the book useful just once, when the rest admit it helped them reasonably.
Among points that might be useful after finishing the course the students admit that they need to practice more in Academic writing of any type, or simply speaking, and to succeed in their research paper.  Seven students decided that comments were needless, when others underline the lack of practice, excessive missing of classes and the use of information about avoiding plagiarism and proper quotation.
