On 19th March 2013, a survey was
conducted among 8 students of Master Programs, Faculty of Humanities, in
NaUKMA. All students were female. The
purpose of the survey was to discover the reading activity of the students
during five years of studying at the University.
The survey was conducted by means of a questionnaire given to the
students to complete. It consisted of 5 parts, each indication the year of
studying. There were four types of
literature in every part (texts for
learning the major subject, texts in subjects other than the major, general
reading for pleasure and entertainment, news). A
student had to mark that type of reading that was the main reading activity in
a given period.
As it can be
seen from the graph, the horizontal axis shows the number of interrogated
people when the vertical axis shows the year of studying. According to the
graph specific literature on major subjects was very popular among students
during the whole period, with a slight rise on the third year and dramatic fall
on the fifth year. Reading of literature for non-major subjects shows a gradual
decline with zero index on the third year followed by a gradual rise.
Entertainment literature has a steady low position during the whole period
although on the fifth year there is a dramatic increase. It should be admitted
that nobody, according to the graph, read news for all five years of studying.
