Despite this fact, these two films are different in various points. Particularly they differ in genre, year of release, role of the books in the film and the main character.

“Fahrenheit 451” is a pure fantasy about future, where people watch tv everyday and read comic books instead of traditional books, which are banned. This movie was released in 1966 and was named “Fahrenheit 451” because is supposed to be the temperature at which book paper catches a fire. Books in this film play the central role.  They are strictly prohibited by law and firemen start fires everyday to destroy each book they find. Moreover books are believed to be evil, stupid and useless. Main character, Guy Montag (Oskar Werner), is a fireman, who changes his attitude to the books during the film due to one girl, which he had met once. He starts saving some books from fire and discovers an unbelievable world of reading, which made him a criminal and a castaway.

“The book of Eli” is action film about future with shooting scenes and car chasing. This movie was released in 2010 and was named after main character, which protected his book throughout the film. In future, which is depicted in this film, majority of people cannot even read. But those who can appreciate books more than life. One of such people is the main character, Eli (Denzel Washington), who protects Holy Bible from evil person, who wants to conquer the world with the help of this book.  Eli has maintained this book save until his last breath and gave it away to humanity.

So both these films tell the story about the role of books in the future and differ in genre, year of release, role of the books in the film and the main character. Due to this both films are worth watching as they offer completely different approaches to the books in future. Both films have unique plot and artistic value.
