ACR essay Evseeva Evgenia
Ethical egoism is a value orientation and moral-ethical principle which incorporates the thought that everyone should follow their own interests and take care of their personal security and comfort. There are two basic arguments which support this ideology, but there are respectful statements as well, which prove that this theory should not be taken for granted.

The first assumption takes the roots from rational and social pragmatism theory. It is believed that if everyone in the society lead the behavior of self advantage and do not care really much about other people’s needs, everyone will reap the most benefits in the end. But there are lots of examples of some really horrible immoral acts of individuals that were done because of self-interest. Moreover, we should not forget about the importance of other people interests and needs, if we talk about or closest people. Perhaps, if we reach some equilibrium of our interests and interests of others (especially the destitute one), everybody would gain some advantage as a result.

Another argument suggests that altruism result in the rejection by the individual of the significance of his own life.  By sacrificing his own life to the help of the others, he undercuts his personality and eradicates the reality of his life. However, human is a social being and the wish to help others is an intrinsic element in his character, as the person gets the feeling of pleasure when helping others. Nevertheless, not properly conducted help for other people can undermine their sense of worth, the rights for privacy; or hurt them because of misunderstanding of their desires.

All in all, we should always keep in mind that if our needs are satisfied, so the desires of other people should also be gratified. Otherwise, too self –oriented behavior leads to a negative response from the society, hurt the closest social surrounding of the person.
